The Children’s Art Centre in Poznań We bring together people who share one passion: a passion for art made for children and by children. Our activities are aimed at those who are still learning to walk and talk, those who have made it to crèche or nursery, then to elementary, middle, or secondary school, and finally to university, but also at those who have never lost the thirst and courage for discovering the world and themselves within the world. They all come to us and meet across generational boundaries. We organise a number of cyclical events, many of which have a long- standing tradition. We deal with theatre, film, music, and visual arts, sometimes treating them as separate domains, but usually making them complement each other and form a whole, just like we as individuals get together to form a team. We are a local government cultural institution which not only believes in its mission, but also realises it every day.
A fourteen-year-old Ethiopian girl, Fortuna, arrives at a refugee center run by monks in the Swiss Alps. Bereft and lonely, she falls in love with Kabir – the only other African in the whole place. Soon, however, Kabir gets arrested. Fortuna is already pregnant and she desperately wants to have this child – even before it is born, she considers it her closest companion she has in this unfamiliar world. But the European mentors have a completely different opinion. In her struggle, the girl finds an ally and a supporter in the person of the abbot, played brilliantly by the German actor, Bruno Ganz. An extremely appealing portrait of contemporary migration and the clash of cultures. Crystal Bear and the Award of the International Jury at Berlinale 2018.
